What Is SOS?

Speak Out Summit was created to spread awareness throughout the month of April which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This quickly evolved into a 5-day event as a way to begin having more  in-depth conversations within the virtual community on the impact of Sexual Violence.

This 5-day summit will feature expert coaches, advocates and spiritual leaders from across the country to educate you on how to have healthy conversations around Sexual Violence, equip you with the know-how to support survivors and empower survivors to release shame, guilt and fear and begin the process to healing and thriving.

Many love Jay for her enthusiasm, optimism, and willingness to go above and beyond to manifest what she desires to experience in the world while being commited to helping people face fears, overcome the adversities of life and break down the barriers preventing them from reaching their full potential. Jay has facilitated conferences, workshops, and seminars on Sexual Violence and Prevention, HIV/AIDS prevention and has mentored young girls through programs within the Chicago Public School system. She has a relentless passion for helping women heal and believes that authentic sisterhood can transform the lives of women in powerful ways.

Jay's work in the Sexual Violence Prevention arena came from her own experience with Sexual Violence when she was 20 years old. It is now her mission to show and teach women that experiencing trauma doesn't have to be the end of their story and that you can reclaim your power and THRIVE.



Dr. Angela Thibeaux

Dr. Angela Thibeaux is a Senior Pastor, experienced conference speaker, entrepreneur, mentor and founder of Angela Thibeaux Ministries. Angela has been in ministry for 16 years and Pastor’s His Glory International Covenant Ministries in Chicago. She received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education and Training from Southern Illinois University, an honorary Masters’s and Doctorate of Theology from Grace Theological Seminary in South Carolina.

Dr. Angela completed a 3-year Developmental Internship as a Church Planting Resident with New Community Covenant Church in  Chicago and pursued her Master’s of Divinity from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA. D.J. Burr is a licensed psychotherapist, behavioral addiction specialist, author, and speaker on the topics of behavioral addictions and male sexual abuse and assault. He owns ABLE Counseling Services, LLC in Seattle, WA. He is a qualified leader in his field and  fearless when it comes to talking about difficult topics such as sexual abuse and addiction. He is a survivor and a person in long-term recovery - giving him the ability to empathize with his therapy and coaching clients, as well as the listeners to his podcasts Journey On: Men Healing from Sexual Abuse & Assault and Making an Addict. In 2014, D.J. published his memoir, I Just Wanted Love: Recovery of a Codependent, Sex and Love Addict to rave reviews. His ability to relate makes D.J. one of the most sought after therapists in Seattle, but he humbly insists he is "perfectly imperfect" like everyone else. Sarah Layden is the Director of Advocacy Services with Rape Victim Advocates.  In her role as Director of Advocacy Services, Sarah supervises 8 direct service Legal/Medical advocates, a RVA’s Advocacy Volunteer Manager and our 24-hour hospital crisis support program (which consists of nearly 180 volunteer advocates).  Since joining RVA in 2008, Sarah has directly worked with and supervised the provision of advocacy services for over 2000 survivors. She is a sought after trainer, who has personally facilitated and ensured the training of nearly 2500 law enforcement officers and prosecutors on issues related to working with sexual assault and abuse survivors.

In addition, she has also overseen the training of more than 1,500 medical professionals in RVA’s 14 partner hospitals.  In 2014, Sarah co-authored RVA’s first training supplement for hospital emergency room staff.  In recognition of her work on behalf of survivors of sexual violence, Sarah was chosen as a recipient of the 2010 Cook County State’s Attorney Office Victim Services Award and has been featured on CBS and NBC local and national news.  Sarah co-chairs the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault Public Affairs Committee and is an active member of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office Sexual Assault Advisory Group, as well as the Attorney Generals Task Force on Improving the Investigation and Prosecution of Sex Crimes.

She attended the University of Illinois at Chicago where she earned a degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice and is a current student at DePaul University College of Law.  She has completed 40 hours Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training for adults and pediatrics, 40-hour domestic violence training, and advanced training on victim advocacy, stalking, sexual assault and domestic violence.  She is committed to ensuring survivors have a voice within the institutions they choose to access for support and justice.

Rape Victim Advocates (RVA) is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the healing and empowerment of sexual assault survivors through non-judgmental crisis intervention counseling, individual and group counseling, and medical and legal advocacy in the greater Chicago metropolitan area. RVA provides public education and institutional advocacy in order to improve the treatment of sexual assault survivors and to effect positive change in policies and public attitudes toward sexual assault.

What is your refund policy?

Due to the nature of the Summit (proceeds being donated and because you'll able to view the summit right away with unlimited access if you've), we do not allow refunds on any purchases.  However, if there is something you believe can be improved within the Speak Out Summit, we gladly welcome your feedback. What happens if I miss one of the Keynote Speaker summit session?

We know that life happens and there may be a possibility that you may not be able to attend every session. This is why we created the membership site. If for some any reason you miss any of the summit sessions, you will always have the option to upgrade your ticket to the ALL ACCESS PASS which gives you unlimited access to all of the summit sessions, session worksheets, and special offers from Keynote Speakers. 

Do I need to be a survivor of Sexual Violence to attend the summit?

No. The summit was created to educate non-survivors, community members, staff of educational facilities...you get where I'm going with this. SOS is for EVERYONE. Whether you're a survivor, want to learn how to better support survivors or interested in learning more about how Sexual Violence effects women and men, this summit is for you.

What if I'm unable to watch the summit sessions at the scheduled times?

I'm glad you asked! If you have an ALL ACCESS PASS, you get unlimited access to the summit. That means you access any of the summit sessions at whatever time you'd like. 

Where is the virtual summit held?

The Speak Out Summit is being held wherever you are. This is a virtual summit so all you need is a laptop or phone and wi-fi access to attend.
